Ladies Invitation Day
We had a fantastic day last week for the Ladies invitation day. The format was teams of 4 with 2 scores to count on holes 1-15, 3 to count on holes 16 & 17, and all to count on hole 18.
After some fantastic play, it was time for Joyce Storer and Jane Guckian to address the ladies with the winners for the day.
There were two teams who scored a staggering 81 points, but by virtue of a better back nine, Jilly Hopkins + Rachel Woodward & Trish Hartley + Carol Sudron - won.
The unlucky second placed team (below left) were Karen Hogarth + Didi Powers & Debbie Howarth + Cathy Lambert.
Third home, with 77pts, were Fran Dickson + Dawn Clegg & Julie Gray + Diana King (below right). The final winners of the day were Jan Ledger, Annabel Franklin and guests (below), who won the card draw for 4 dozen balls between them!
Raj is Singhing in the rain!
Well in some shoddy wind and rain, AIZ man Raj Singh produced a stunning round to win the White Tee Medal by 4 shots! Raj shot a brilliant nett 71 to get his handicap cut from 10 to 8. I've been spending some time with Raj recently, working on keeping his right leg flexed and getting more weight onto his right side in the backswing. He's been working on it and the fruits of the labour are here to see! Well done Raj.
Second home was Steve Ellis with a 75. He once again leads the order of merit, and was back at it with another solid score. Steve really is a model of consistency, always up there in the order of merit, and will be looking for a strong finish to the season to try and match his untouchable results in 2014.
Third home was Harewood Cup winner Peter Swaine. Pete also shot a nett 75 from the white sticks, which was enough to get him cut from 3, to 2! Well done Pete - I'm chuffed for you! Keep it up.
The Basil Little Trophy
Neil & Laura Crawford won the Basil Little Trophy with 34 points, ahead of Nigel & Fran Dickson, with John & Heather Swarbrick back in third place.
It was a great day with a lovely atmosphere around the place. As the scores came in it became apparent that Neil and Laura actually had some daylight after their stunning round - they were some five points clear of Nigel and Fran!
With no Two's scored, it was decided that a card draw would determine who won the prize-pot of money on accounts, and the very lucky winners were Paul and Glad Cook! Well done to all that entered, I'm sure you'll all agree it was a fantastic day played in great spirits.
Lady Capt & Pro Challenge Match
So with the course playing mega tough and the greens running fast at the moment you would have thought that making a few nice pars would be good for a few wins. Well not when our ladies step on the course for a match as between us we scored twelve net birdies and two net eagles!
Challengers Fran Dickson and Julie Gray made their fair share of birdies and a net eagle on the 16th courtesy of Julie's a sublime putt from off the green levelled the match with two go. In the heat of battle it seemed that the pressure got too much for Joyce and I as we played the last two holes poorly, whereas Julie and Fran putt the hammer down to win the last two holes for a two up victory.
Well played Julie and Fran, Joyce and I had lots of fun apart from the result……..
John
If you struggle to make the carry on the 12th tee sometimes, the heather and rough is far less heavy on the left side. So if you hit a bad shot left of the path there's a greater chance you'll find it and be able to play it. If you hit it well on that line you're still on the fairway!
Joe
Alignment is all personal to the player.
Having a club down aiming at the flag when you're practicing may look like the thing to be done, but if you curve the ball right or left and are happy with that - why not aim so that the ball curves to target instead of curves away from target….
Jack
If you're struggling with scoring high numbers on the 14th - why not lay up short so you can chip and two putt to guarantee your four?
FootJoy Fitting Day
On the 30th July 10am-2pm we're hosting a special FootJoy Fitting day. A representative from Footjoy (Lewis) will be down here with a full range of the Footjoy shoes, and will be measuring people for their true size.
It was very interesting last year to see the MAJORITY of you were using incorrectly fitted shoes, this is proven to lessen the distance you hit the ball.
Please click here to book in. We will keep your details in a database so if you ever want to order a pair, we can get the exact specifications to suit you, and your swing.
AGC Crested Bags
We've just received in to stock a wide array of some of the best bags we've ever stocked. We have a wide range of carry bag.
Naturally, they're extremely light, but they also provide complete protection against the rain and have ample pocket space and dividers at the top.
On top of that they're also crested! I can't recommend these strongly enough if you're looking for a lightweight carry/trolley bag that's also waterproof.

So don't miss out, when they're gone they're gone!
Wedge Offer
Many of you will know we have the buy a Cleveland wedge, get another at 50% off deal currently running. This was fantastically supported last year, and with good reason. If your wedges aren't properly gapped you are throwing away shots.
Ideally you'd have 4 degree gaps in between each wedge. On top of this, if you have too much or too little bounce on the bottom of the club, you're going to find you fat or thin it too often.
So come and have a FOC AIZ Fitting where we will examine your gaps, lengths you hit each wedge, and with the help of the GC2 Launch Monitor tell you if you need some new tech or newly gapped wedges. We're here to help you!
