Which Hole
Last weeks 'Which Hole' was a bit of a swizz as I took the photo while stood on some ladders.
However congrats to Victor Levison for correctly guessing the 16th.
Here is the full image, I am not sure what you think but wouldn't it be great if we had a view of the 16th fairway all of the time.
Ladies Team Draw
On a 'gloopy' Tuesday 30 of our intrepid ladies set out to play the 'Team of Three Draw' competition. The conditions didn't phase Morag Ross, Jill Richardson and Joyce Storer, as the trio battled their way to a superb score of 74pts in the best two from three format.
Coming home in second place was Linda Carvell, Tricia Hartley and Jane Guckian. The group also broke over the 70 point barrier, carding 71. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to take the title, but a second place finish is always good going.
And finally, a special mention goes to: Glad Cook, Sarah Watson, Jane Levine and Linda Wilson. All of whom scored a two.
Capt & Pro Match
It seemed very apt that for the first match of the series immediate past captain Neil Crawford challenged Captain Nick and I.
Neil had obviously scoured the club for a partner with the most dubious handicap and came up with Paul Stevens who set his stall out early with a gross birdie net two on the second and followed that up with a net birdie on the third! Brilliant, here we go again!
However Nick and I hung in there with a few birdies of our own and managed to hold our hot opposition to all square at the half way stage.
In Paul's last lesson we worked on chipping so I was really, really delighted to see him make a Seve like up and down on the 11th…….. for a win. I manage to hole a monster at the next to half with Neil's nett three but when Paul holed another long putt for a nett birdie on the 13th Nick and I were in trouble. We hung on like limpets and after I wedged it stiff on the 17th we were one down and had made it to the last which we were pretty pleased at, but our pleasure was snuffed out as Neil showed his matchplay class by holing his bunker shot for a three.
Thanks for the game Paul and Neil you were just too good. Next up is Brian Creber and Nigel Dickson, Nick I will see you on the range!!
The Bousy Trophy
On Sunday there was the running of the 'Bousy Trophy,' in memory of David Bousfield. He was renowned for being a bit colour blind, so often turned up to play in some… colourful outfits!!
The format was a Two ball betterball stableford, played in a colourfully mismatched outfit of your choice. See below some of the great outfits!
I must say, Tim Bousfield was wearing a Christmas jumper with the loudest polo I've ever seen underneath it! I can't offer prizes for attire, but if I could…
And now to the winners! Last years winning score of 37 points was surpassed this year, with 39 points from Peter Hockin and Bill Shucksmith taking the title. They both won a couple of pounds on account and I'm sure their post-round meal tasted even better.
