Last Chance - Christmas Draw

Time is fast running out to enter this. If you won't be at the club in the next few days, please click here and we can use your pro shop account funds to allocate you tickets.

The Christmas Draw tickets are on sale in the pro shop. This is drawn this Saturday at the XMAS Dinner so time is running out. A set of custom fitted PING irons is the top prize. It's £2.50 a go, with members able to have as many squares as they want.

As we open up more squares, we will increase the prize pool in line with this. Best of luck to you all.

Club news

To Attend or Not to Attend

During winter, when playing a non-club event, the club recommends that when putting from long distance on the greens, the flag stick remains in the hole, unattended. This is to reduce general wear and tear throughout the winter months.

This recommendation does not apply to club competitions though, for these the usual protocol of attending and removing the flag should continue.

Ladies Green tee Stableford

Debbie Howarth and Diana Finan were respectively top of the silver and bronze divisions last Tuesday. Both scored 36 points which was enough to edge out the close pursuers of Lizzy Bousfield and Blanche House, both of whom scored 35 points. Well done to you all, solid scoring!

Team of Three Event

We had a good turnout for the Team of Three comp on Saturday, with a packed leader board at the close of play.

The winning score was 89 points, scored by Peter Johnston, Bill Shucksmith and David Gale. Second home, just missing out on countback were Peter Durbin, James Durbin and Nick Reed. The format was 90% h/caps, best two stableford scores to count, with all three to count on the holes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 & 18.

Congrats to the winners, who performed brilliantly on their 'three to count' holes, up until the last! Two blobs almost opened the door for the others, but a three pointer by Peter Johnston kept them at the top of proceedings.

Great to see Bill and Peter in the winner's circle. They are both taking part in the AIZ Winter Coaching Program so at this early stage it is fantastic to see some successes.

Tipper's on the Hunt

Tipper Wilson spotted some rare birds on the course the other week, and emailed through to let us know…

"Some three weeks ago I and others saw a Green Woodpecker between the rough/fairway on the 8th. It is normal in Yorkshire to see Great Spotted Woodpeckers and perhaps slightly rarer to see the lesser spotted variety but I think very unusual to see the Green in this area.

Added to this, last Saturday I 'put up' a Snipe from the rough between the 1st and 18th, about 50 yards past the first bunker. This, I think, is very unusual as they are normally only to be found in marshy / boggy and waterlogged ground. I am very pleased to say that Nick Ross was there to confirm my sighting."

Tips from the team

John
- Winter golf, perhaps you're trying to play that low punch shot?

Be aware that putting the ball back in your stance will often change your swing path. Players can often fade full shots and draw punches…

Please practise this shot on the range so you know how to use it 'in-game.'

Joe - Fix your chipping woes… Start off by just hitting chips. Don't pick a target or landing spot, just hit chips until you get consistently good strikes, this could take 30+ shots.

Now put a towel down. This is your 'landing spot.' The ball should land on the towel. Mix it up, float some high and some low, the fact you've got your strike sorted pre-drill makes this brilliant practice.

Jack
- Is getting cold hands costing you shots on the golf course?

Prevent this by buying hand warmers from us in the pro shop, only £2.50!

Christmas Ideas….

Another week, another XMAS idea! How about treating your loved one to a state of the art Bushnell Tour V4? Lasers are the most accurate, and easiest way of getting exact distances to the flag, or hazards. When zapping the flag, the Tour V4 will actually vibrate to let you know it's locked on, making it easier than ever to avoid measuring the distance to the bushes etc. behind the green.

Please feel to ask to use our demo device for 18 holes if you want to 'try before you buy'.

We have a massive selection of AGC crested sweaters, ¼ zips, polo's and slipovers. These are always massively popular and can be worn year-round. Price wise… the polo's are £39.99, slipovers £54.99 , sweaters £59.99 , and the 1/4 zips £79

We have a huge amount of colours and sizes available, and of course, if the size or colour isn't deemed perfect on Christmas morning, they can be returned and replaced.

We've had a delivery of some awesome stocking fillers! New AGC crested putter covers, AGC beanies and even some little AGC puppy headcovers. Perhaps a puppy for Christmas isn't such a commitment now? Both are retailing at a shade over £20 . These go alongside numerous other crested headcovers and outer wear. We've got you covered!

Fitting day

Srixon Ball Fitting Day - Limited slots remaining!

Next Wednesday 21st December we have the Srixon Rep popping down with the current selection of Srixon balls for you to try on the launch monitor. This means you can see the slight differences that each ball will give you. No more guesswork, you'll know which ball suits your game the best and have all the info you could possibly need courtesy of the 'all-knowing' rep.

He'll be here from 10am - 2pm. To book in for a slot, please click here and ask for a time.

Here are just 3 balls that will be on show, let me give you a brief idea of how they may benefit your game…

Z-Star

Seen week in week out on the tours, this provides everything you could need.

Long off the tee, and softer and more spinning when playing your shorter irons into the greens.

Distance

A ball built specifically for distance. If you are just looking for a few extra yards, and don't want the added control around the green that the Z Star will give, this is the answer.

AD333

A main stay in a lot of players bags. This is what you'd call a 'good all-rounder.' It ticks the boxes, providing good performance in all categories.

Isn't time you found out which ball is best for you?
