Harewood Cup
This Saturday is the Harewood Cup, a 36 hole yellow tee major club comp. Last year the first tee was closed until 11am specifically to let Harewood Cup players tee off for their first rounds. Unfortunately, this then meant there was a bit of a backlog at 11am, with both second-round Harewood and non-Harewood players looking to tee off.
With this in mind, the committee has decided that this year, the 1st tee will be reserved solely for those playing in the Harewood Cup, from the start of play until 1pm. Thereafter, priority on the 1st tee will remain with the Harewood Cup players playing their second rounds.
Midweek Stableford
Garry Cuthbert was the only man to better his handicap in the Midweek Stableford. The impressive 37 points was enough to get his handicap chopped to 1.8. He'll certainly be eyeing up getting down to 1 and having a solid run in the Scratch Championship later this year, something that is well achievable considering how mind-numbingly straight he hits the ball! I wouldn't envy anybody pulling his name out of the hat in one of the knockouts.
A pair of the 'boom boys' chased Garry home, both Paul Cotton and Neil Crawford scoring 36 points and also getting their handicaps cut. Paul always seems to find his way towards the top of the leaderboards, and after a great score in the March Stableford, he's back in the spotlight again. This 36 points has got him into single figures.
Third placed Neil Crawford is certainly in some form at the moment, this score was preceded by his nett 70 second place finish in the yellow tee Medal a couple of weeks ago. It's a very bright start to the year for Neil, who is certainly an AIZ man that's been working with me on getting a fade instead of his usual draw.
Ladies Competition
Angela Brophy posted a brilliant 39 points in the Ladies Stableford on Saturday to take the title and get her handicap cut from 13 to 12. She's been having short game lessons with Joe, and I'm sure this is the start of a good run. Realistically Angela has the swing and the potential to get into single figures, so with a little more work this could well be a year with regular newsletter mentions!
Trolleys
Last Saturday we got all the AIZ trolleys out to showcase the wide range we have to offer. With so many different size/weight/price options, there really is something for everyone.
This year we've added some PowaKaddys to the fleet of Motocaddys, meaning we can supply both types. The stars of the day were the ultra-small folding Powakaddy Compact and Motocaddy M1. They both fold down into small squares meaning they're so beneficial to the space stricken golfer who can't fit a trolley in their boot.
Feel free to pop in and talk to us about the ranges, we're happy to help.
John - Come down to the club to see the rhododendrons they look awesome!
Joe - Don't make a swing change without understanding how it'll change the flight of the ball.
Jack - If you need more spin on your irons, move the ball back in your stance.
Enjoy the read, John.
