Irwin pips Playing Partner to Title
Last Saturday was the June Yellow Tee Medal and Tom Irwin played the last seven holes in level gross to just pip his playing partner Charles Consett to the title, virtue of a better countback. Tom's card consisted of 2 birdies, 3 bogeys and all the rest pars for a very easy nett 70! This is just another solid round in what's becoming a very progressive season for Tom's golf.
Six handicapper Charles Consett was out in -1 gross, and if it wasn't for a slightly poor (by his high standards) finish, Charles could've had a big handicap reduction. As it is, a nett 70 was carded and a second place will have to be settled for. The signs look good for the season ahead though! Third place went to Pierre Bouvet who shot a nett 71. Pierre's card was much like Tom's, very consistent from start to finish, never looking like shooting anything other than around the 70 mark. Well played to all three and hopefully the rest of the season treats you equally well.
Two's at the double for Jilly
Ever improving Jilly Hopkins achieved two two's in the recent June Stableford. A great putt on the 7th was followed on the ninth by a 'chip in' from deep rough on the left. Well they all count, as Jilly scooped the Two's Pot!
A delighted Jilly after the round

Tour De France Display
It's Tour De France time so with the help of my wife Gill we've got the shop looking full of colour in support of the race. It'd be great to see some of you down at the shop over this exciting time in Yorkshire, so I look forward to seeing plenty of red faces after you bike down!
Hole in one for David
As we know the 11th green is very treacherous to putt on at the moment, well in the recent match against Pannal David Denby cut out the putting to score a fantastic 'Hole in One' with a seven iron. The next day David made a two on the 11th. So three shots in two attempts I bet a few players in the Yorkshire Amateur this week would love those scores.
Lost Club
With the rough getting to a fantastic length, now more than ever is the time for a club to get mislaid and perhaps lost in the long stuff. With this in mind, we'd like to remind all golfers of the procedure should you find a club on the course.
Ideally, the club would be handed in to us in the pro shop after play so we can identify the user or at the very least pop it in our lost property bag. Should you take it home by accident however, a call to the pro shop would be great so we at least know its whereabouts when we get asked.
British Open Sweep Now Up & Running
With the British Open now fast approaching (3 weeks away!) we've got our sweepstake up and running. There are over 150 squares up for grabs, with each member able to buy a maximum of 2 squares per person. It is £5 per square, with several pay outs - the top prize is £250! The draw for players will be done on the Thursday that play begins. It's quite a long process so it will likely be late morning/afternoon until we e-mail you all with your respective players.
If you'd like to enter but aren't at the club anytime soon, please drop me an email or call the pro shop and we can transfer funds from your pro shop account.
GC2 Proving to be a Massive Success
After investing in a state of the art launch monitor earlier this year, I can safely say this has been one of the best golfing purchases I've ever made. Instant feedback to the Ipad Aire lets me communicate very simply to the player why we're seeing the shot distance/curvature that we're seeing. From here it's a case of trying other clubs as comparisons and chatting through the figures we see so that the player is on the same page and not in the dark.
This has really revolutionised the fitting process and leaves no stone unturned. If you'd like to improve your golf with a set of custom fit clubs/woods then click here.
Immediate visual feedback in all lessons.
The iPad Air together with the excellent V1 golf app is also something I will be using in the vast majority of my lessons. It allows me to give you, immediate visual feedback and comparisons with professional's swings whilst actually on the range with you. This has already proved a success and has made it even easier to show golfers the desired swing positions we're trying to get to, and how we can do it. Add this to brief post lesson e-mailed notes and you have an unbeatable combination.
I look forward to helping you improve your golf, to book a lesson or custom fit please click here.
