A couple of belters Two matches this week and what a couple of belters. First up was David Knaggs and Mike Banks. Well I don’t know how they prepared on the days before but they reeled off putt after putt, birdie after birdie to be nine under better ball and four up stood on the 15th tee.
They stumbled a bit on the 15th and so we were just three down. On the 16th David, who tells us he is the ‘best pitcher in the northern hemisphere’ pitched to 6 feet for three nett two. I had pretty much duffed my second shot 30 yards short of the green but chipped in for a three. David narrowly missed, so two down! Captain fantastic made a regular par on the 17th, so one down.
On the last I had just missed the green on the left for two and Mike was pretty much in for a nett four. A few practice swings and good strike from my trusty gap wedge and the ball rolled in the hole again for a three and the match was halved!
I wish I had a photo of Mike’s and David’s face…
