Men's Invitation Day Two of the early starters set the pace with solid 39 points each, Johnny Crew and guest Mark Ripley edging out Paul Cotton and guest Charles Abrahams on a count back. Jonte Bousfield with A. Thomson snuggled between Johnny and Paul with another 39 points. For some time, 39 points looked more and more like a winning score until Iqbal Khan and guest Jasbar Athwal spread eagled the field with an amazing 46 points. Their front nine was nothing short of incredible as 14 handicap Iqbal and 9 handicap Jasbar covered it in two under gross betterball for 26 points!
|
They had a bit of a wobble at the start of the back nine but finished in style with a trio of three pointers on 16, 17 and 18. Awesome, awesome play Iqbal and Jasbar. Oblivious to the scores already posted, Ian Marker with guest John Fearn were slowly going about their business and after a poor start they made eight three pointers, six by Ian to amass 42 points and take second spot, nice golf…
Gordon Gilchrist stood on the second tee hoping to take home the Nearest the Pin in Two prize. Well he clinched this in emphatic fashion by simply holing his second shot, wow! Neil Crowther knocked it in tight on the 7th to take the Nearest the Pin prize. All in all a good day was had by all.

Lady Captain & Pro Challenge Day
With Lady Captain Annie and I having a busy year we struggled to arrange the Challenge matches, so I came up with the plan to play all matches in one round, on one day! So 12 plucky challengers put their names down and we all played Foursomes Stableford. Annie and I playing the first six with two teams of challengers, the middle six with a further two and the remaining six with the last two teams of challengers. Over the 18 holes, teams that Annie and I scored more points than would donate £10.00 to Annie’s charity, ‘Martin House’ and Annie would donate £10.00 for each team that beat our points tally. So, mindful of Annie’s possible outlay I decided to play from the red tees, which caused a bit of a stir and gave every lady three courtesy strokes. Well, I could have and probably should have been more generous with the courtesy’s as Annie played some stunning golf, not missing a shot all of the way round and not minding too much hacking out of the heather after my errant tee shots, and in the end we won every match! We also played 50p to the charity for every time any team visited a bunker. So the Martin House charity box was bulging by the time we left and everyone had lots of fun.

Honma Fitting/Demo Day – Saturday 28th September 10.00 – 2.00
Who are Honma I hear you ask? Until earlier this year when Justin Rose moved from TaylorMade to Honma there is a good chance you may have never even heard of them. Honma is a Japanese based brand designed and engineered in Sakata Japan since 1959, with the mission to create world class products.
In my opinion there are virtually no one else out there who makes golf clubs to the same quality as Honma do; with different models of products there is something to suit all abilities. The T// World tour range is in the bags of some of the world’s best players and the club golfers alike. They are designed to generate more ball speed for longer drives and more feel for greater performance in irons, they really do perform throughout the bag.
Now those of you who do know Honma may be thinking these are out of my price range HOWEVER what if I told you that you could get the same model of irons as Justin Rose and it would cost you less than some of the latest models in both TaylorMade and Callaway?
To get the experience of these unrivalled handcrafted clubs come along to the Fitting/Demo Day and try them for yourself, it’s something you won’t want to miss. To book your slot tel 0113 2689603 or email john.green@foremostgolf.com

Ladies clothing For the last couple of months of the season, I have persuaded three Ladies clothing manufactures to leave me some stock. Green Lamb and Abacus have already delivered 24 garments each and these will be merchandised in the next couple of days.
If all goes to plan, Island Green will be sending me 50 pieces and these will find their way to the shop floor in the next week or so. Come on down and have a look, there is plenty to see.

They've done it again... When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation. How does it differ? Well, it feels amazingly soft, provides even more distance and imparts a lot of spin when around the green. It's definitely worth a go, even if we do say so ourselves. |

Mizuno’s new irons have landed |
Sit back and hold on tight as we guide you through the latest family of irons that are sure to set the standard for the remainder of 2019. Introducing Mizuno's MP-20 range... |
MP-20 HMB It stands for Hot Metal Blade and is a club that has traditionally been used as a long-iron replacement. However, you can now get a full set of performance hybrid irons that look fantastic at address and are incredibly easy to hit. |
MP-20 MMC This second generation multi-material concept (MMC) iron boasts a 12g tungsten weight in the 7 to 4 irons, as well as a thinner topline and improved feel, for better forgiveness where you need it the most.
|
MP-20 MB One look at this muscle back and it's easy to see why people fall in love with Mizuno irons, but it's the copper plating behind the face that makes the MP-20 MB a real winner in the feel and workability departments. |
